#014 Your Unique Formula for a Thriving Life with Sherri Starr

When I think about my own journey with food, my body and my health, it comes down to a variety of factors.  The most pivotal being having an empowering mindset, listening to and trusting my body, being flexible and open to change, embracing the journey and going on deep journey within myself.  These are the foundational pieces of health and happiness that my guest, Sherri, and I chat about this week.

In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Sherri Starr – a life, health, and happiness coach on a mission to guide and empower women to live in a body they love and a life that lights them up. Sherri’s passion for proactive wellness was sparked by the loss of her father to suicide, which resulted in new insights about the importance of participating fully in each moment of our precious lives.

You are going to hear Sherri share:

  • why having an empowering mindset is key to getting results.
  • how your beliefs shape your life and health.
  • why your food and body story can keep you stuck.
  • how to both enjoy the journey and strive for improvement/growth.
  • what it takes to sustain lasting change in your life and with your health.
  • how to create goals in alignment with your true self.
  • the importance of creating trust and connection with your own body (your most trusted advisor/expert).

Within You are the Answers with David Lesinski

Hello and welcome to EP12 of IMperfectly Healthy.  I am thrilled to have David Lesinski on the show.  Dave is someone I have known about and followed for years now.  I have always admired his vast insight,
his deep wisdom, his grounded/calm presence, the way he leads with his heart, and how he does so humbly. Him and I have pretty recently crossed paths, so here we are =)

In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview David Lesinski, an emotional wellness coach, Ayurvedic practitioner and intuitive artist and poet. His passion for meditation, spirituality and energy medicine was developed through his own personal pursuit of finding stress relief and inner peace naturally, years ago. Dave assists his clients in releasing long-standing stress-patterns, feeling lighter/happier/empowered/renewed, and connecting with the deepest, divine part of themselves.

You are going to hear Dave share his journey from teaching kids with emotional challenges to the world of meditation, yoga, Vedic astrology, intuition, Ayurveda, and now healing art. In this conversation, Dave:

  • explains how unresolved stress from the past gets stored in your body.
  • takes you on a deep dive into what Ayurveda really is.
  • walks you through the 5 layers of self.
  • shares the benefits heart-based meditation can have on your health and happiness.
  • gives you insight into what a powerful, creator you are.
  • inspires you to do your work, trust your life and let your divine nature lead.

Dave is an incredible example of what is possible for someone when you stay committed to your own personal growth path. He certainly walks his talk.

See your food cravings in a new light

If you’re like I used to be, you have likely been struggling with food cravings forever. And, also like me, you’ve likely tried a number of diets and strategies that haven’t worked long term. I know how frustrating this can be, and how defeating it feels to try to “be good” all the time. Because it never works, right? You do well for a while, avoiding all those foods you love.  Then you end up giving in and devouring a whole bag of candy or chips.  Then it all goes out the window…

It doesn’t have to be that way.

I put this guide together so you can start to learn some foundational lifestyle habits that can help you find more confidence around your food choices. The information I’m sharing is not about deprivation or the latest strict diet; it’s about creating healthy sustainable habits that have been proven to both help keep cravings in check, and improve overall well-being at the same time.

Can you accept your body and still want to lose weight?

The weight loss/health/body image world is often so black and white.  You either throw the diet rules out the window and go crazy eating what you want.  Or you deprive and restrict yourself in order to achieve a body you feel you can accept and love, in the future.

Have you noticed the all or nothing approach out there? Continue reading “Can you accept your body and still want to lose weight?”

3 Ways to Celebrate You

Why do you do the things you do everyday? What motivates the choices you make in your day-to-day life?

Do you do them because you “should”, or because you are on a constant path to “fix and change” yourself.  It is so easy to get stuck in the mindset of, “when I _____, ______, and ______, then I will feel good about myself, then I will have made it.”

This need to fix and change can often be what is fueling our choices around health and well-being.

Can you relate?

The Drama of Struggle

Whether the struggle be food, body, money, relationships…the drama of the struggle is draining.

See it, understand how the story was “serving you”, then drop it.

I had to spend almost a grand $ on my car this week. In the past. I would have gotten all upset, bent out of shape over it, and thrown myself a pity party.

This time, no. I decided to not let it gut me, throw me off. Wasting my energy there would be disempowering.
