#020 Fierce Loving for Your Body, Life & Self with Amber Krzys

We live in a world of duality, opposites.  Light and dark.  Feminine and masculine.  Human and Spirit.  Good and bad. Yin and yang.  Today on the show, we are talking about Fierce Loving.  I imagine when you first read those two words together, you may think, “how do those words fit.”  Well, you are going to find out how beautifully they compliment each other to describe a powerful way of being.  Fierce Loving, created by my friend and today’s guest Amber Krzys, is having quite an impact in how I live my life, and relate to myself and others.  I know it will for you as well.

“Every explicit duality is an implicit unity.” – Alan Watts.

“Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being, but of integration of the contraries.” – Carl Jung

Our lives are a journey of owning and integrating all parts of who we are, even when they seem contrary.  Like one of my mentors had said to me many times, “whatever words you use to describe yourself, you are also the opposite.”

Fierce Loving…what does that mean to you?

In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Amber Krzys – a coach, speaker, and founder of bodyheart and Fierce Loving—organizations devoted to helping people experience deep fulfillment in their body, career, and life. Amber has a thriving coaching practice where she serves a wide range of individuals, and also creates and facilitates her own coaching groups for body, business and life. Her individual clients range from moms, artists, small business owners to corporate and creative executives.

Amber’s work as a professional speaker has been featured at TEDx Malibu, MSN, the White House blog, University of Southern California, Pennsylvania State University and more. Located in Los Angeles, Amber lives with her boyfriend and two rescue pups, and helps people change their lives for the better as a coach, speaker and author.

In this episode, you are going to hear Amber share:

  • her story of overcoming body-punishment, negative self talk and perfectionism to creating a thriving business helping others do the same.
  • what Fierce Loving is and how it came to be.
  • how to have healthy relationships in all areas of life – with your body, money, career, loved ones, family.
  • the 4 keys to having a successful relationship with anyone and anything
  • how to discern between your head and heart
  • why reading books isn’t enough to transform
  • how she is applying fierce loving to a current “rumble” in her own life
  • her wisdom on body image and creating a partnership with Her/Him
  • what you are really yearning for
  • internal vs. external results and fulfillment
  • why you need to build your inner stillness muscle

#019 How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can with Amy B. Scher

In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Amy Scher. Amy B. Scher is an L.A.-based author and leading voice in the field of mind-body-spirit healing. Her new bestselling book, How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can was published in January 2016. As an energy therapist, Scher uses energy therapy techniques to help those experiencing illness and those in need of emotional healing. She has been featured on healthcare blogs, CNN, Curve magazine, Elephant Journal, Cosmopolitan magazine, OM Times, and the San Francisco Book Review. Her essay about her healing journey is featured in Elizabeth Gilbert’s most recent book, Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It (Riverhead Books). Scher was also named one of Advocate’s “40 Under 40” for 2013. Amy has presented to groups such as the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University and teaches at retreats and conferences nationwide.

This episode is a special one. It encompasses everything I know, have learned AND have experienced around healing on all levels.  I recently shared about my skin and autoimmune healing journey on my instagram page.  In the post, I spoke to how I am following the food and supplement guidance of the medical medium (who is amazing, by the way)….AND I also expressed how the inner growth work has been the MOST important piece of my transformation. I know that if hadn’t done the inner work – looking at my emotions, beliefs, fears and so on, the food and supplements wouldn’t have been effective.  Going within is the truly the foundation for lasting change. It has been for me, and it was for Amy as well.

In this episode, you are going to hear Amy share:

  • her incredible story of healing herself of Lyme disease and a variety of other health challenges using mind-body and energy medicine.
  • how your emotions and beliefs can keep you from healing.
  • what the stress mess is and how to shift out of it.
  • what can get in the way of healing.
  • why deep down you may not want to heal.
  • the difference of holding onto vs. honoring emotions
  • the role fear has in health and illness
  • the root cause of ALL health challenges
  • how to shift into alignment with healing.

If you are struggling with your health, and NOTHING seems to be working.  If you are feeling confused, drained, and hopeless – let me know. I would love to speak with you and see how I can help.

#016 Rise Women Rise with Mimi Cerutti

Today’s guest is a dear friend of mine, Mimi Cerutti. Mimi is a holistic nutrition and lifestyle coach. She recently asked me to be a part of her Women Rising Project, in which she invited women to share their life stories of strength and courage.  As I completed my interview write up, I had the thought, “I hope Mimi is planning to write one of her own.”  As you are going to find out, she has had quite the life story.  Then I thought, “ooo I am going to ask her to be on the show so she can share her own Woman Rising story”  So I sent her a very excited text. She wrote right back equally as enthused and so here we are.

The following is what Mimi had to said about her Rising Women Project:

We’ve all experienced pain, loss, tragedy and struggle in some way. Whether it be through death, divorce, loss of a job, loss of relationships, loss of health, or just a plain loss of our sense of ourselves and who we are in this life. Sometimes we just feel lost! It can come in so many forms and manifest itself in so many ways. For many of us it is a total loss of power and control in our lives and any sense of who we are in the world.

My intention with this project it to show you that you’re not alone. To give you hope and courage in your own life. To show you that you have the power, the courage and the strength that you need inside of you right now to overcome anything that you’ve had happen in your past, or that you might be struggling with right now.

Through this project,  I will be sharing other women’s stories of strength and triumph, as well as the tools and resources they used to get through and rise above. My hope is that you will use these stories to rise above and write your own story, create your own triumphs and realize the amazing woman that you are. Right here. Right now.

Please… Use these stories to fuel your journey in whatever way that may be for you. Maybe you just want better fulfillment, self love, self care. Maybe you want to heal from something from your past. Maybe you want to be a better lover, mother, sister, friend. Maybe you want to leave some situation that is no longer serving you. Maybe you know that you’re on this planet to be of some kind of contribution, but there’s just something in your way.

Please… Use these stories to help you delve into your life, to discover, to heal and to rise.

We’re all in this together.

Always love,

Mimi

Mimi came on the show to share:

  • her incredible RW story of resilience, courage and commitment
  • how to have a conscious divorce
  • how to embrace the ups and down of life
  • the beauty in being a total mess
  • what to do when you want to give up
  • her wisdom around being an imperfect parent
  • the importance of creating a strong community of support
  • who is the most important relationship in your life
  • how to allow what is and not get stuck there
