What do you do when faced with illness? or an overwhelming health challenge?
Most people gear up to fight, battle with and beat (fill in the blank)….Cancer. Heart Disease. Autoimmune. Anxiety. Leaky Gut. Weight Gain.
What if this approach actually fueled the dis-ease? What if this way of being was even a cause of the illness, the imbalance?
The thing is, you cannot heal something you hate. You cannot use anger, shame and resistance to transform your body. The body is a reflection of your thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Therefore, having fear be the driving force on your path to health will never lead to wellness and vitality.
There is another way to approach healing your body. My guest today and I, both agree this other way, is THE way. It is the only path that fully heals and restores dis-ease to wholeness and well-being.
In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Dr. Kim D’Eramo – a physician, speaker, #1 bestselling author of “The MindBody Tool Kit,” and founder of The American Institute of MindBody Medicine. After healing herself from a chronic illness using MindBody tools, she now empowers millions to use the same tools to immediately shift their body chemistry and brain activity to create health and wellbeing.
Dr. D’Eramo conducts online group training programs and speaks internationally to doctors, medical students, and the general public to teach self-healing tools.
In this episode, you are going to hear Dr. Kim share:
how she overcame a rare autoimmune illness during med school when no doctor could help her.
what it takes to truly heal from any illness.
the top two things blocking your healing
how suppression of the feminine is making you sick, exhausted and age faster.
her approach to diet and supplements.
the impact emotions and negative thinking has on your physiology
the art of allowing, acceptance and surrender in your healing journey.
the truth of what is underneath the pattern of over-doing, overcoming, fighting and battling your body.
how what is happening with your body is a reflecting of how you live life.
the difference between pure and conditional love.
when things getting worse is actually a good thing.

I am SO excited about this episode. It is a topic I have been wanting to cover for a while. It is also an aspect of health and wholeness that I LOVE to talk about. Today we are talking about dating, relationships, communication and attraction, from the perspective of a MAN….which is key. We are also taking a look at the ways men struggle with body image and weight.
The man who courageously stepped up to the plate for this conversation, is my dear friend, Josh Trent. Josh is the founder of Wellness Force, and a wellness industry influencer and coach. He is also a top ranked iTunes podcast host of both Wellness Force Radio and the Fitness + Technology podcasts.
With over 13 years in the health and wellness industry, he leads the Wellness Force community in discovering physical and emotional intelligence to help men and women live life well.
His vision for Wellness Force is to empower over one million men and women in discovering the physical and emotional intelligence we need to live life well and enjoy the process. A KEY to enjoying that process is our relationships. Josh and I love chatting about this topic together as friends, so here we are! =)
In this episode, you are going to hear Josh share:
The physical and emotional transformation he has gone through to get to where he is today.
how physical weight can be a manifestation of your inner world.
why you must take responsibility for the story you tell in your head about yourself, others and life.
his experience being faced with the modern man’s dilemma
how to handle the pressures and expectations put on both men and women in our culture to do it all, be it all and have it all.
his insight on male body image
what makes a woman most attractive.
what it takes to have a healthy, harmonious, connected partnership
what makes a man want to commit to a woman.
the difference between being a strong, successful woman and having “independent women syndrome”.
why your language dictates your life.
what courageous communication is and why it matters
why being perfect is actually unattractive.
how readiness, divine timing, willingness and courage all play out in dating and love.
A few quotes to round out this topic from one of my favs from @createthelove.
“Fall in love with yourself first. When we’re whole we can see clearly the types of people who are in front of us as our vision is not clouded by loneliness and insecurity. It makes everything else so much easier because then we search for people that compliment us, not complete us.” – Mark Groves.
“Great love doesn’t leave. It stays. It communicates. It tried to understand. Great love doesn’t walk away. It walks towards.” – Mark Groves
“The purpose of our journey is to restore ourselves to wholeness.” – Debbie Ford
What does wholeness mean to you?
When it comes to health and well-being, you can’t compartmentalize the parts of who you are. You are a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual being. A Whole Being. Each part of You impacts the others. Your emotions influence your digestion. Your spirituality influences your nervous system. Your thoughts influence your energy level.
As humans, we are on the path of understanding, honoring and integrating all these parts into one.
As Caroline Myss says,
“What drains your spirit drains your body. What fuels your spirit fuels your body.”
“The soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind”
“If healing required changing your job, would you do it? If healing required moving to another part of the country, would you do it? If healing required that you change most of your attitudes toward others and yourself, would you do so?”
In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Christa Orecchio – a clinical and holistic nutritionist dedicated to helping individuals use food as medicine to heal from the root cause. She helps people ignite the natural healing process of their minds, bodies, and spirits so that they can feel whole again. She is the author of The Whole Journey Food as Medicine Cookbook, co-author of The Anti-Inflammatory Diet, and co-author of the best-seller How to Conceive Naturally and Have a Healthy Pregnancy After 30. Christa also hosts three health and wellness TV shows.
Christa has played a huge role on my path, both personally and professionally, over the last 9 years. She continues to be one of the top resources and referrals I pass on to my own friends, family and clients. Christa is the ultimate expert on the super nitty-gritty scientific details of physical health and healing disease. She has spoken about them publicly, a whoooole lot. It was quite an honor to have her on the show sharing her heart and soul about her own path, and her passion for the mental/emotional/spiritual aspects of one’s whole journey in life.
In this episode, you are going to hear Christa share:
her story of a life-changing year where she discovered the power of food to heal physical and emotional health. After transforming her own candida, thyroid and adrenal imbalances, she integrated all she learned and has been helping others do the same for over 8 years.

why Spirituality has everything to do with your health and enjoyment of life.
how you are your own most powerful healer.

In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Amy Scher. Amy B. Scher is an L.A.-based author and leading voice in the field of mind-body-spirit healing. Her new bestselling book, How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can was published in January 2016. As an energy therapist, Scher uses energy therapy techniques to help those experiencing illness and those in need of emotional healing. She has been featured on healthcare blogs, CNN, Curve magazine, Elephant Journal, Cosmopolitan magazine, OM Times, and the San Francisco Book Review. Her essay about her healing journey is featured in Elizabeth Gilbert’s most recent book, Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It (Riverhead Books). Scher was also named one of Advocate’s “40 Under 40” for 2013. Amy has presented to groups such as the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University and teaches at retreats and conferences nationwide.
This episode is a special one. It encompasses everything I know, have learned AND have experienced around healing on all levels. I recently shared about my skin and autoimmune healing journey on my instagram page. In the post, I spoke to how I am following the food and supplement guidance of the medical medium (who is amazing, by the way)….AND I also expressed how the inner growth work has been the MOST important piece of my transformation. I know that if hadn’t done the inner work – looking at my emotions, beliefs, fears and so on, the food and supplements wouldn’t have been effective. Going within is the truly the foundation for lasting change. It has been for me, and it was for Amy as well.
In this episode, you are going to hear Amy share:
her incredible story of healing herself of Lyme disease and a variety of other health challenges using mind-body and energy medicine.
how your emotions and beliefs can keep you from healing.
what the stress mess is and how to shift out of it.
what can get in the way of healing.
why deep down you may not want to heal.
the difference of holding onto vs. honoring emotions
the role fear has in health and illness
the root cause of ALL health challenges
how to shift into alignment with healing.
If you are struggling with your health, and NOTHING seems to be working. If you are feeling confused, drained, and hopeless – let me know. I would love to speak with you and see how I can help.
Are you stuck in the same repeating patterns? Dating the same type of men? Having to constantly re-commit to your health? Always struggling with money?
If so, this show is for you! It is time to get in there and weed your garden. It is worth it. Everything you deserve and all your heart desires are waiting for you to claim them.

what it takes to transform your not “enough-ness”.
how your external expression is a reflection of your inner world.
Do you have a dream you have been ignoring? A passion you push to the side? Is there an unsettling knot in your stomach begging you to listen to it?
It doesn’t have to be a business. It could be starting a non-profit for a cause that matters to you. It could be making difference in a community of people that need help. It could be taking a stand as a leader on a topic that ignites your heart.

Body image and food obsession (aka food stress!) isn’t actually about how you look, or what you eat. There is much more to it than that. It is deeper. Healing requires going deeper. Disordered eating, and body shame, are symptoms. The root of the struggle is what my guest and I chat about this week. Maddy and I know this area well! We had both been in body image and food “issues” hell for years and years. It doesn’t have to be that way for you. May our conversation open your world up and inspire you to see your body, food and yourself in a whole new way =)
In this episode of IMperfectly Healthy, I interview Madelyn Moon –an author, podcast host, retreat leader and transformational life coach. She is a guiding force for women who want to stop over-thinking their lives away, and live with more trust, intuition and flow. Always striving to do more, be more and accomplish more, she found herself disconnected from her body with multiple disordered eating patterns, a restlessness and a lack of confidence. Maddy healed her heart, spirit, body and mind by stepping into her unique feminine power, giving up the need for control and learning to surrender to a higher power. Maddy takes life by the reigns today by leading thousands of women across the world through their own transformational experiences via her podcast, Mind Body Musings, her website, and her global retreats.
You are going to hear Maddy share:
